Francis Ndowa

Dr Francis Ndowa is a specialist venereologist based in Zimbabwe with expertise in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and dermatology. He is one of the two Directors at the Skin & Genito-Urinary Medicine Clinic in Harare.
Francis is an international consultant on surveillance, management and control of STIs). He is the Regional Director of the Africa and Middle East & North Africa Branch of the International Union against STIs (IUSTI Africa-MENA).
He is a member of the WHO SRH/HRP Scientific and Technical Advisory Group and a member of the ReAct Toolbox International Advisory Group on antimicrobial resistance. He is a member of Antimicrobial Resistance Programme Advisory Committee of the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care.

Cleophas Chimbetete
President, Zimbabwe College of Public Health PhysiciansDr Cleophas Chimbetete (PHD) is the President of the Zimbabwe College of Public Health Physicians and heads the Research & Training unit of Newlands Clinic in Harare. He has co-authored over 50 publications in peer reviewed journals

Frances Cowan
Executive Director, Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research (CeSHHAR) ZimbabweFrances Cowan is a clinical epidemiologist and Professor of Global Health at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. She is based in Zimbabwe where she is the Executive Director of the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV AIDS Research (CeSHHAR) Zimbabwe, leading a portfolio of HIV prevention research, which includes large scale impact evaluations of national HIV programmes.

Fortunate Machingura
Research Director – Key Populations, Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research (CeSHHAR) ZimbabweDr Fortunate Machingura heads research on Key Populations at the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV AIDS Research (CeSHHAR Zimbabwe). She is a member of the WHO 2022 technical working group on routine HIV surveillance and is co-Principal Investigator in the global consortium on Measurement and Surveillance of HIV Epidemics. She is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine’s International Public Health and the University of Zimbabwe’s Biomedical Informatics and Bio-Engineering Department.

Evaristo Marowa
Director, Skin & GU Medicine ClinicHe has contributed to publication of some STI research in some international journals in the 1980s 80s when he was involved in the running of the Genito-Urinary Medicine Clinic in the Harare City Health Department.
He has has work experience at both national and international level where he was UNAIDS Country Coordinator for nine years in Tanzania, Bangladesh and Botswana.
Currently he is co-director and consultant dermato-venereologist at the Skin and Genito-Urinary Medicine Clinic in Harare.

Bismark Mateveke
Secretary-General, Zimbabwe Medical AssociationDr Bismark Mateveke MBChB, MMED, FCOG ECSA -Specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist at Sally Mugabe Hospital, Harare. He is the deputy head for the Obs & Gynae unit. He is the current national Secretary General for the Zimbabwe Medical association (ZIMA). He has a clinical bias towards sexual & reproductive health, reproductive medicine and assisted reproduction as well as gynaecologic endoscopic surgery.

Brian Nachipo
Communications Officer, AIDS & TB Programme, Ministry of Health & Child Care, ZimbabweBrian Nachipo is a public health communications specialist with a wealth of experience working in the field of adolescent sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS. Brian currently serves as the National Advocacy and Communications Officer in the AIDS and TB Unit of the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Zimbabwe.

Margaret Pascoe
Medical Director Newlands Clinic, HarareDr Margaret Pascoe is a public health clinician. She has been working in the public health sector in Zimbabwe for over 30 years, her focus is infectious diseases including sexually transmitted infections and HIV. She is the current medical director of the Newlands Clinic, an HIV care and treatment centre, and the president of the Zimbabwe HIV Clinicians Society.
